About Lowe Aperture

I finally decided to share my love of photography via this platform, a love that stretches back 30 years. Here I’m sharing images old and new, all taken by me, via film, SLRS, and yes, even an iPhone.

lowe aperture might be a play on words, but also a description of a new chapter in my life. For many years I have nurtured a love of photography, and finally decided to share it. With a new last name, (thanks husband), a new perspective, and new appreciation for a simple life, this is my lowe aperture, an identified space where I can see. Sometimes it's a mood, or a feeling I try to relay, not perfect, not technically precise, but genuine, and open to interpretation by the viewer.

Textures and patterns found in the natural world always inspire me, whether by the ocean, found along the way during a nature walk, cooking a meal, or simple observations made in daily life.

Prints are available on washi, or Japanese paper. The handmade aspect of this medium allows for a clean, sophisticated, yet natural look. I have worked in the trade of handmade textiles and fabrics for decades, fascinated with the various patterns and textures created on them, mostly inspired by nature.  The opportunity to print on bamboo washi fits perfectly with my aim of sharing a love of the amazing design found in the natural world.

I hope that these images inspire you as well, to either create or find some peace or personal message that you uniquely understand.
